SARGANT, Eric Thomas

Passed away peacefully in his sleep during the early morning hours of May 4, 2023, in his 77th year. He spent his final days at Chapman House in Owen Sound, surrounded by his family. As an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan, Eric had spent the last few weeks cheering his favourite team on to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in 19 years, with his wife of 26 years Anne Stewart by his side. In his retirement years Eric’s happiest moments were spent travelling the world during the winter and spending his summers in Sauble Beach where he and Anne hosted family and friends for campfires, card games and legendary meals. Ever the social butterfly, Eric will be remembered for his straight-forward nature and sense of humour. He will be dearly missed by the Sargant, Stewart and Mathewson families. A celebration of Eric’s life will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492. Memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a memorial service starting at 1 p.m. A reception will immediately follow. Please dress casually. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Grey Bruce Hospital Foundation, The Salvation Army, or The War Amps would be appreciated.
