Bobs career began in Barrie at the Barrie Examiner Newspaper, then onto The Barrie Broadcasting Corporation, where he was soon promoted to Station Manager at the new CKCB AM Radio Station in Collingwood. Bob finished his career at The Peak 95.1 FM.

Bobs love for the community of Collingwood was evident early on. He coached for the Collingwood Minor Hockey, was an Executive for the Collingwood Blues Jr. A Club, a Member of the Kinsmen Club. He enjoyed playing hockey with the Collingwood Oldtimers Hockey Club and enjoyed Slo Pitch Baseball in the summers.

Bob loved the outdoors year round. He liked to keep busy by volunteering at the fishing derby’s, snowmobiling, hunting, sports, but mostly spending as much time as he could at his beloved hunt camp in Iron Bridge, Ontario.

In his retirement, Bob found much pleasure in anything antique related. He would find old treasures and refinish them with skill and passion, bringing new life into old pieces. Bob kept very social, he loved playing cards and was the self-proclaimed “Best Euchre Player In Canada”.

Bob enjoyed his cigars with a Cuba Libre, a good outdoor fire, engaging in conversations and he always added a bit of shock value for entertainment, he was quite a character. Bob had many quotes and words of wisdom, his favourite would be “you can’t beat fun for a good time”, upon which he lived by.

The entire family extends their thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff and front line workers at both the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital and the Hospice Georgian Triangle-Campbell House for their excellent care, kindness and compassion.
