HINDSON, David Stanley

Hindson

September 19th, 1935- October 12th, 2020

Following a brief but determined battle with cancer, David Stanley Hindson passed away peacefully on October 12, 2020, at the age of 85.  Husband of Joyce for 53 years, loving father to Catherine (Randy Cox), and proud “papa” to Ellis and Connolly, David will be missed and fondly remembered by family and friends, near and far.

The youngest son of Stanley and Theo Hindson, David grew up in Timmins with his older brother Donald. An opportunity with the Ford Motor Company brought him to Southern Ontario and launched a lifelong loyalty to all things Ford.   He was, for many years, a member of the National Yacht Club, where he enjoyed sailing. David was also a member and manager of Devils Glen Country Club, which led David and Joyce to make Singhampton home.

Father-daughter time allowed him to share many of his passions with daughter Catherine, including car racing, being on (or in) the water, travelling, and skiing.

In true snowbird fashion, at the first sign of snow, the Hindson car was packed and racing for the border.  David thoroughly enjoyed winters in Florida: puttering outside in the warm weather; fishing with the guys; going to NASCAR races; and following American politics.

When time was up in Florida, the rest of the year was spent at the cottage on Georgian Bay.  Never one to slow down (figuratively or literally), for David there was always a project on the go.  But, there was always time for a boat ride, especially for an ice cream run with “the boys” (with a scoop of Tiger Tail for himself).

A celebration of David’s life will be held next summer when we can hopefully gather together on Georgian Bay. In appreciation of the tremendous care David received, donations can be made in his memory to West Parry Sound Health Centre, or Hospice Georgian Triangle (Campbell House).
