…he went on 3!

With boundless sorrow, at the age of 80, our Ernest (Ernie) Herbert Gummer gave up the ghost.

Adored husband of 55 years, of (Edna) Mary (nee Scotney). Unforgettable father of Sharon (Alan Palmer) and Linda (Alex Padovan). Cherished Grampa of Memphis Palmer Gummer. Ernie was predeceased by his parents Ernest Gummer (1987), Gwendolyn (nee Scrannage, 1969), step mother Gerty and his sister Jean Bremner (2019, late Rodger Bremner). Dear brother to Edith McNabb (late Jim McNabb) of Collingwood, Rose Laws (late Dennis Paterson, late Jim Laws), & Betty Micks of Stayner.

Predeceased by mother in law Berniece Scotney (1999).

Ernie will be fondly remembered by his many brothers and sisters in laws: Doug, Phyll, Dawson, Dan, and predeceased by John, Bill, Margaret, Ray, Joey, Peg, Doc, Walter, Sis and Gord.

Treasured uncle to oh, so many! Deeply missed by all of his neighbours, (old and new), extended family (McNichol et el), lifelong friends, Gary and Woody, and his Mason brotherhood (Beaver Valley Lodge 234).

Many thanks to the great work of all Dads’ PSWs, the VON in Collingwood, Dr. Smith and staff, Dr Marshall, the great care of Collingwood Paramedics who graciously answered the calls, to all the beautiful souls of Collingwood General & Marine Hospital, especially this last week. Much gratitude & love to you all.

“Our world will not be the same without you. We will carry you in our hearts wherever we go. Rest well.” (Quoted from Aunt Joey’s story, 2018!)

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ernie’s name can be made to a local charity of choice. Stories and pictures of Ernie are requested and can be shared and emailed to [email protected] or mailed to Mary, Sharon or Linda. All donations and/or stories are greatly appreciated by the family.

Thank you to Fawcett Funeral Home staff for their help and understanding of our humour.

Cremation has taken place, and a service will occur sometime in the future.
