Saturday May 20, 2023, on the eve of his 85th birthday, Nelson Freethy of Wasaga Beach, ON passed unexpectedly at home into the presence of his Lord and Saviour. Loving and devoted husband of Linda Freethy (nee Moore) for over sixty years. Devoted father to his three children, Rob Freethy of Huntsville, ON, Jennifer (Perry Karsten) of Kincardine, ON., Randy (Liz) Freethy of Dallas, TX. Loving grandfather of Rachel Karsten (Nick Furler), Jonathan Karsten, and Zachary Freethy. Dear brother of the late Helen Burgess, Norm (Shirley) Freethy, the late Bob Freethy, and the late Dorothy Freethy. He was a long-time member of Glen Cairn Baptist Church in London, ON before moving to Wasaga Beach in 1999. He and Linda attended Faith Missionary Church for many years, but his passion for music led him to First Presbyterian to Church in Collingwood to sing in the choir. He loved to use his voice in song and used his talents to serve God and others. He enjoyed antique cars and going to auction sales, and always had a story to share of the past. Family and friends will remember his enthusiasm for playing games, especially Rook and Euchre. He was generous with his time and talents and loved to help others. He was very proud of his award from the Canadian Blood Services for reaching 100 donations. He loved his family fiercely and will be deeply missed. Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home - Wasaga Beach Chapel, 509 River Road West, Wasaga Beach on Thursday May 25, 2023 from 11 a.m. for the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1 o’clock. Private interment to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. If desired, a donation to either First Presbyterian Church, Collingwood or Faith Missionary Church, Wasaga Beach would be appreciated by Nelson’s family.
