It is with profound sadness that the family of Betsy Davies announces her passing on Wednesday, October 27th, at the age of 77.

Betsy died peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family.  She was the loving mother of Doreen (Andy) Schwartze and Lorraine (Tim) Bremner and proud Grandmother of Jayne, Gareth and Connor.  She will be forever cherished by her siblings: Bob (Anne) Schwertfeger and Ginger (Jerry) Steer.  She also leaves behind her loving mother-in-law: Ruth Davies; sister-in-law: Susan Davies; brothers-in-law: Rhys Davies, Pat (Rose) Pierce and Burns (Terri) Pierce, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gareth “Gar” Davies; parents: Ed and Betty Schwertfeger; sisters: Lou Ann Jacqua and Sandra Ansted, and brother-in-law: Gwyn Davies.

Betsy will be fondly remembered by families in Collingwood for her work with children as the Owner/Operator of The Mulberry Bush Nursery School for 17 years, and as a Resource Teacher at E3 Community Living for 23 years.  Betsy had a heart for teaching, and she loved the children dearly.  She will be deeply missed by her many friends, especially those from the Royal Order of Jesterettes, Tor-Can #10.  Traveling together and planning their future adventures brought her great joy.
However, Betsy’s greatest source of joy was spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a fiercely loyal and devoted Grandma who loved Jayne, Gareth and Connor with all of her heart.

At Betsy’s request, there will not be a service.  Instead, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children. Friends may visit Betsy's online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com.
