BOLTON, Peter Neville

Posted

Bolton

Passed away at home with family by his side on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in his 70th year. Pete was the beloved husband of Valerie (née Elyea), loving father of Nick (Irene), Daniel, and Krista (Anthony). He was the cherished Grandpa of Lyla Bolton Zuñiga and Aidan Germain.

A native of Yorkshire, England, Pete came to Canada at the age of 20. One of the proudest moments of his life was the day he became a Canadian citizen.

Pete was an avid reader of history and an aficionado of many genres of music. He also loved the outdoors, where he spent many hours tending to his garden. You were also sure to spot him as he walked the network of trails throughout the Collingwood area. His love of travel took him all across Canada, the USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, and back to the UK. Pete was an electrician by trade, and after a period working at the Collingwood Shipyard and the Goodyear plant, he and his family headed west to Fort McMurray, Alberta, where he worked at Syncrude Canada for 25 years.

In 2016, Pete was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. Knowing the progression of the disease Pete was determined to make the most of his remaining time by spending it with family and friends. He was able to do this until the last few months of his life. He was a witty, kind, and loving soul – and a true gentleman until the end.

Pete will be remembered fondly by his family and friends, including Sally and Glen Cameron, Trent and Shelby Elyea, Wendy and Don Moore, Gayle and Gary Robinson, and Susan and Kim Johns.

A service will be held at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to Chatterson Funeral Home, Collingwood.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Georgian Triangle - Campbell House.
