We are saddened to announce the passing of Ruth Anne on Monday May 22, 2023. With family by her side, she drew her last breath at Southlake Regional Health Centre where she’d been for the last month.  She fought hard to stay with us right to the end.

Ruth Anne was practical and straightforward, with a heart that was soft and kind. You knew exactly where you stood with her and because of this, she was respected by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Ruth Anne and her husband, Neal started their life together as the owners of Beckford’s Motel in Brampton. The motel & service station was proudly built by her father, Ted Beckford. When the family packed up and moved to Stayner in 1972, Ruth Anne became a top selling real estate agent for many years. She later moved on to work along side her son, Ed and daughter Darlene and managed the day to day operation of Ed’s graphic design business, Lasting Impression. Her favourite “job” of all, however, was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Ruth Anne had so many wonderful friends.  She always looked forward to getting together for cards, Mexican Train, or just being able to meet up for a chat over a good meal.  We know she will be sorely missed by so many including long time dear friend Mary Glencross, everyone in the 412 Club and all the special friends who brought so much joy to Ruth Anne’s life.

Family was so very important to Ruth Anne. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Pepper (Jeff) and Darlene MacDonald (Shawn). She was the very proud grandmother of Cameron Pepper (Kristen), Gage (Kristen) and Tate MacDonald and the great grandmother of Mason.  Ruth Anne was also very much looking forward to the arrival of Baby Pepper who is expected in September.

Born July  6th, 1935, Ruth Anne is predeceased by her husband Neal Barnhardt, son Ed, her parents Edward (Ted) and Nellie Beckford. She is survived by her sister, Mary and her husband Dave Wooland.

Our entire family would like to thank Dr. Gandhi, everyone at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital as well as the staff at Southlake Regional Health Centre for their exceptional and compassionate care.

At Ruth Anne’s request, there was private family service and cremation has taken place.    In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Ruth Anne’s memory to the charity of your choice.  To sign Ruth Anne’s Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com
