Brooks Bandits, Prince George Spruce Kings to meet for Canada's junior-A title

BROOKS, Alta. — The host Brooks Bandits and Prince George Spruce Kings will meet for the Canadian junior-A men's hockey championship.

Ryan Mahshie's goal early in the third period was the eventual winner as the Bandits held on for a 4-3 win over the Ottawa Jr. Senators on Saturday night in the second semifinal of the tournament.

Simon Boyko, Ray Christy and William Lemay gave Brooks a 3-0 lead before Ottawa stormed back with goals from Kyle Jackson, Geoffrey Dempster and Conor Smart.

Pierce Charleson made 22 saves for the win and Francis Boisvert stopped 30 shots for the Jr. Senators.

Earlier, Ben Brar's goal late in the second period was the winner as Prince George downed the Oakville Blades 2-1 in the other semifinal.
