P.A. man makes another court appearance on weapons, drug charges

A man arrested by the Prince Albert Integrated Crime Reduction Team wasn’t granted bail March 13.

Kevin Ackegan, 40, appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court again March 13 on 30 weapons and drug-related charges.

Ackegan has been in custody since Feb. 26 when police arrested him during a traffic stop. When police searched his vehicle they found Canadian, U.S. and Jamaican currency, two firearms, ammunition, a machete, bear spray, a knife, hydromorphone, methamphetamine, Gabapentin pills and cash.

Police also arrested a 33-year-old woman and charged her with possession of a controlled substance but didn’t release her name.

Ackegan is scheduled to reappear in court on March 20.
