The Local Media Association presents the Digital Innovation Awards annually.

CollingwoodToday.ca has been recognized in the digital news industry for our local coverage of COVID-19 in 2020 with a second-place finish in the annual Local Media Association Digital Innovation Awards.

The award recognized the provincial, regional, and local reports put out by CollingwoodToday.ca daily during the COVID-19 pandemic, which included situation reports, regional health unit breakdowns for cases, and seven-day-a-week reporting on the daily updates from Public Health Ontario and the provincial government.

CollingwoodToday.ca was the only Canadian site to place in the category. Detour Media out of Detroit took first place, and Enlace Latino out of North Carolina took third.

The annual Digital Innovation Awards contest recognizes the best in local digital media in 15 categories. The Local Media Association states the contest is "highly-competitive" and designed to recognize both large and small media companies for their work.

The first, second, and third place entries for Best COVID-19 Local Community Coverage were awarded to sites that produced community-focused content that brought the reality of COVID-19 to a local area.

The Local Media Association serves more than 3,000 newspapers, broadcasters, digital news sites, and research and development partners, with a headquarters anchored in Lake City, Michigan.
