Woman found in 'medical distress' inside Wasaga home

OPP say 73-year-old woman remains in critical condition after being discovered in Illinois Crescent residence; criminal investigation underway

WASAGA BEACH, ON - On February 9, 2019 shortly before 9 a.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident involving a female in medical distress at a residence on Illinois Crescent in the Town of Wasaga Beach, Ontario.

A 73-year-old female was located unconscious by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services and Wasaga Beach Fire Department. She was transported to an area hospital where she remains in critical condition.

Members of the Huronia West OPP Crime Unit and Central Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) under the direction of Detective Inspector Randy Gaynor of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are currently conducting a criminal investigation into the circumstances of this incident.

As a result of this ongoing investigation, police have determined that this is an isolated incident and there is no public safety concerns.
