After checking ticket sales, Wasaga Beach is increasing the advertising budget for what was supposed to be a large outdoor concert with close to 5,000 attendees.

The town has sold 25 tickets (as of this morning, June 19) out of a potential 4,500 for the upcoming concert featuring platinum-selling, Juno award-winning recording artist Shawn Desman.

The concert is set for 11 days from now (June 30) and marks the Wasaga Beach Canada Day kick-off at Playland Park Square.

The town initially set aside $2,500 for advertising but has since increased it to $16,833.

In addition to the advertising budget, the cost to the town for the production, artist and riders was $69,000, and security costs are estimated at $4,500.

“Although the town strives to draw in tourism and create economic impact for local businesses, the estimated profit should the event sell out … the town anticipates the profit would be approximately $20,000,” said Michael Gennings, communications officer for the town of Wasaga Beach.

Desman is a Canadian pop, R&B and dance-pop recording artist and performer. His last album release was in 2013 with an album called Alive. He released two singles in 2015.

Tickets are $30 in advance or $45 at the door, the concert will be outside. Tickets are available online here.

The concert will also feature a performance by DJ 4Korners.
