Traffic stop leads to charges, including impairment, in Wasaga Beach

The OPP conducted the stop after receiving reports of an erratic driver

On June 12, 2019 at approximately 4 p.m. officers from the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of an erratic driver that had collided with multiple vehicles before fleeing the scene at Odell Gate in the town of Wasaga Beach.

Police located the vehicle in the area and initiated a traffic stop, investigation revealed that the driver was impaired by alcohol.

Richard Parry (21 years), from Collingwood, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired - blood and alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident - two counts
  • Dangerous Operation - three counts

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on July 7th 2019.
