Ticket sales from summer concerts help fix broken instruments

The South Georgian Bay Music Foundation dropped off donations at two area high schools.

Organizers of this year’s Jazz and Blues at The Station concerts have been handing out the season’s proceeds to local high school music programs.

Ruth and Charlie Gudaitis visited both Jean Vanier Catholic High School in Collingwood and Georgian Bay Community School in Meaford with $1,500 donations for each of the school’s music programs.

The money will be used to repair broken instruments and make sure the high school music programs continue to be available for students.

“We need to keep music alive in our schools,” said Charlie Gudaitis.

Jazz and Blues at the Station takes place at the Collingwood museum grounds throughout the summer. The summer series was created to raise funds for the South Georgian Bay Music Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting music education in the South Georgian Bay area.

The foundation is funded through ticket sales and donations. To find out more about South Georgian Bay Music Foundation, visit the website here.
