Theft from cars

On December 21, 2016 the Guelph Police received four reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Colonial Drive, Vaughn Street, Jeffrey Drive, and Starwood Drive.

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible. If you do fall victim to this crime, please report using the Guelph Police CopLogic online reporting system. You can find this on the Guelph Police website under Online Reporting. Police incidents over the last 24 hours

The Guelph Police were involved in 151 incidents in this time frame. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.

E-Messaging

The Guelph Police Service E-Messaging System, is an automated community notification system that delivers vital information to residents and business owners within the City of Guelph.

The E- Messaging System will send information to a selected geographic area made possible through a community member sign-up webpage. Messages will be prepared and delivered by the Guelph Police Service through email and text messaging. Message types and user delivery profiles can be customized to meet the needs and preferences for each registered community member.

Types of messages

The registration page enables community members to create a user profile, which will specify the message types that the community member wishes to receive. Messages like:

  • Information alerts
  • Existing Amber alerts
  • Missing persons
  • Emergency incidents
  • Neighbourhood crime alerts
  • Threats to school safety
  • Public warnings

Registration

Residents and business owners within the city of Guelph who wish to enroll in the E- Messaging System will be required to create a user profile by completing all required fields on the registration form. Your user profile will identify the geographic area where the messages are to be delivered. You also have the option to edit your online user profile or unsubscribe at any time.
