The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported three new COVID-19 cases and no deaths in today's update (July 22).

There are two new cases in Barrie, both are men between 18 and 34 years old. The transmission source for both cases is under investigation.

The third case is a Springwater resident also between 18 and 34 years old, whose case is linked to travel.

The two Barrie cases reported yesterday have now also been linked to travel.

There are currently 22 active cases in the region.

Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,342 cases of COVID-19 with 12,065 of those cases recovered and 255 cases ending in death.

There are four people from Simcoe County hospitalized with COVID-19-related illnesses, with no new hospitalizations reported today.

The health unit has confirmed 4,975 variant cases in the region so far, with seven of those cases still active.
