After months of virtual vendor markets, The Simcoe County Mom Market will have its first ever in-person event at Avalon Orchards this fall.

On Sept. 26, 20 local vendors will be set up at the orchard for an outdoor shopping experience.

Event organizer and Market Director, Allie Kazakoff says she wanted to host the event outdoors to ensure guests felt confortable and safe.

"I chose an apple orchard because I wanted a have a fall themed market with an attraction for shoppers that was COVID-friendly," she said.

The Mom Market Simcoe County has been hosting virtual events since Kazakoff started the chapter back in the spring.

The Mom Market has 12 divisions, with Simcoe being one of the newest.  Kazakoff was the Market Director for The Mom Market Calgary before moving to Collingwood in May.

"I launched Simcoe County right before COVID hit so instead of jumping into in person markets, as a collective we decided to go to virtual markets," she explained.

"We have been successfully running virtual markets since May which has been the best way to still support small businesses which are the ones who really suffered during this time."

Kazakoff says the online events have been very successful and is hoping for continued success for the first in person event.

"We have grown such an amazing community through it, so I am so excited to get into in person markets, she said.

She is hoping to host many more in person events throughout the county in the future.

The Mom Market Simcoe County event takes place Saturday Sept. 26 from noon to 5 p.m. at Avalon Orchards, Innisfil. Admission is free and the first 25 guests will receive a free swag bag.
