Tay Township man face serious charges after a break and enter

Accused one of three males who allegedly made off with motorcycle from Honey Harbour residence

GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with assistance from the Detachment Street Crime Unit have arrested an area man in connection with a recent break and enter investigation.

Officers were dispatched on Feb. 27, 2018 at 6:35 p.m. to a Honey Harbour area home where the homeowner encountered three males forcibly removing a motorcycle from an out building on his property. The males then prevented the home owner from trying to retrieve his property and left the scene.

A second incident on Feb. 28, 2018 in a parking lot in the Town of Midland involving in a male being threatened by another male who matched the suspect information from the break and enter incident on Feb. 27, 2018.

Investigation has revealed the identity of one of the involved males as being Cody Moreau, 24 years, of Tay Township who was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences in relation to the break and enter incident.

  • Trespassing at Night contrary to section 177
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 - in Canada contrary to section 354 (1) (a)
  • Armed Robbery contrary to section 343 (d)
  • Break, Enter a place commit indictable offence contrary to section 348 (1) (b)

And the following Criminal Code of Canada offences in relation to the threatening incident

  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm contrary to section 264.1(1)(a)
  • Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge contrary to section 145(5.1)

He was held for bail court held in Barrie at the Ontario Court of Justice and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.
