Student art sale benefits bursary fund

What's your favourite album cover? It might be one of the paintings hanging up at Mad Dog's Coffee and Vinyl Cafe.

The second floor of a local record store has become an art gallery for works by local students.

Art students from Collingwood Collegiate Institute have painted album covers on canvas and are auctioning off the results in a week-long event.

Steve Zago, the art teacher who gave the assignment to his students, was glad to see students choose their own albums to paint and said there was a good variety of work in the show.

Proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to the Fay Foundation, which is a scholarship fund created in memory of Catherine Fay Spencley.

The art will be up this week to Saturday, Dec. 15, and is available for purchase by silent auction.
