Starting Monday, April 9, Standing Committee meetings will now be held in Council Chambers (Town Hall, 97 Hurontario St.) to allow for the meetings to be broadcast on Rogers TV and live streamed to Rogerstv.com.

The meeting videos will also be posted to Rogerstv.com after the meetings conclude. Council Meetings will continue to be held in Council Chambers and will continue to be broadcast and live streamed.

"For those members of the public who are not able to attend our meetings in person, this will allow them to stay informed on municipal events," said Collingwood Mayor Sandra Cooper. "We are looking forward to providing this extra level of accessibility to our residents."

"I'm excited to see this enhancement to the Town's commitment to openness and transparency," said Deputy Mayor Brian Saunderson. "Making Standing Committee meetings available for everyone to watch on TV or online, helps to improve our public accountability, and increase engagement in municipal government."

At the Feb. 26 Council meeting, a resolution was passed directing staff to take all necessary steps to film, broadcast and live stream all Council meetings and Standing Committee meetings to increase public access to such meetings and enhance accountable local government.

Tune in or log on to stay connected with Council and Standing Committees. Meeting schedule, agendas and minutes are available at Collingwood.ca.
