Spring forward this weekend; one less hour of sleep

The extra daylight comes at a perfect time with March Break around the corner, meaning children and their families will be able to spend more time outdoors

Spring is less than two weeks away!

So, it is only fitting that clocks spring forward an hour at 2 a.m. on Sunday.

The beginning of Daylight Saving Time means it will be brighter in the evenings, but the downside is that you lose an hour of sleep Saturday night into Sunday morning.

The extra daylight comes at a perfect time with March Break around the corner, meaning children and their families will be able to spend more time outdoors.

For some people, the loss of an hour of sleep can lead to a groggy Monday morning, but there are things you can do to help ease the transition:

  • Try to avoid spending time on electronic devices before bed
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol
  • Avoid naps during the day
  • Exercise
  • Keep to your usual bedtime ritual

Daylight Saving Time ends Nov. 4, 2018.
