Sipp into a world of Blues

He picked up a guitar at 6 years old. He was inspired by BB King and raised in Mississippi. He's called the Mississippi Blues Child for a reason.

Simcoe Street will feel a little like Memphis tomorrow if you listen closely.

Castro Coleman, aka Mr. Sipp The Mississippi Blues Child, will be wailing on his guitar on stage at the Simcoe Street Theatre July 15 starting at 8:15. The Collingwood show is one of two Canadian dates on Sipp’s world tour. He’ll be in Ottawa July 14 for the RBC Bluesfest.

Sipp was born in McComb, Mississippi, and started learning guitar at 6 years old. The boy from McComb was inspired by BB King. His first performances were in a gospel band with his aunt.

He continued to draw inspiration from BB King and his performances are a nod to the Blues legend.

Sipp recently joined the cast of CMT’s Sun Records as a young BB King. He is on the roster of the Mississippi Arts Commission. He conducts programs in the area schools teaching the young and old about the blues.

Tickets for the Simcoe Street Theatre show are $75 and available online here.
