Spiritleaf is gearing up to open a Collingwood location at the beginning of August, and they’re hoping visitors to the new retail cannabis franchise will leave with a feeling in line with their store’s tagline.

“We can imagine a world full of peace, love and harmony. We want people to leave our store with that kind of feeling. We believe what we’re saying,” said Adam Tuerlings, store manager of Spiritleaf in Collingwood.

Tuerlings said they are planning to open the store the first week of August, with a soft launch planned before they officially open to the public.

Spiritleaf is the first cannabis franchise that is now operating from coast-to-coast in Canada. While the company started in Western Canada, the first Ontario location opened in Kingston. Collingwood will be the company’s fifth Ontario location.

Tuerlings says the owners of the franchise store have a love for the community which is what made them want to open a location in the Georgian Bay town.

“Our owners in Collingwood have a long history of being in the community. That was a big part of it,” said Tuerlings. “Also, the aesthetics of the store really lends itself to a Collingwood feel.”

The store will be the second retail cannabis store in Collingwood, as Sessions Cannabis opened on Hurontario Street in December last year.

“When it comes to how it will differ, I kind of want to leave that up for people to experience,” said Tuerlings. “There is one significant difference, but I want to keep it a surprise.”

“From our perspective, training and product knowledge are going to be the most important things we strive for,” he added.

Spiritleaf Collingwood will be located at 10 Balsam Street. They are also currently hiring. Job postings can be found by searching the store on Indeed.
