Rotary flag flies in Collingwood to mark children's charity campaign

The flag is flying to mark Rotary4KIDS day on April 1

Collingwood's mayor, Brian Saunderson, joined Rotarian John Saul, at the flagpole at the Collingwood Public Library to hoist the Rotary Flag and proclaim April 1 as Rotary Club of Collingwood - South Georgian Bay Day in the town of Collingwood.

The flag-raising and proclamation was done to bring awareness to Rotary4KIDS Day of Giving, which takes place April 1 as a radio-thon on The Peak FM. It involves 12 hours of dedicated programming to raise money for local children and youth in the greater Collingwood area.

There will also be an online auction this year running from March 18 to April 1 via the Rotary Club's website

Previously, funds raised through the annual Day of Giving have previously supported the Collingwood Youth Centre, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Dragon Boat and Canoe Club camp, kids art and drama camps, local scholarships for high school graduates, sending local kids on international exchanges, Georgian College, Blue Mountain Retired Women Teachers' Books for Babies, Tim Hortons Children's Foundation, Elephant Thoughts science camps, the South Georgian Bay Music Foundation, and the Rotary Youth Leadership awards.
