There's a new application for a cannabis retail store in Collingwood just entering the public comment period.

The applicant Stash and Co. (Karan Someshwar) is interested in opening a cannabis retail shop at 99 Balsam Street, Unit J2A (the Pet Valu plaza).

Objections or submissions from the public can be submitted up to Feb. 15, which follows the regular two-week public commenting period for the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario's (AGCO) cannabis retail operating licence process.

The AGCO will only consider objections or submissions regarding protecting public health and safety, protecting youth and restricting their access to cannabis, and preventing illicit activities in relation to cannabis.

For more information on filing a written submission, visit the AGCO website here.

There are three other cannabis retail applications in progress. The public comment period has closed for all three.

They include Cannoe for 66 Hurontario Street, Treetz for 280 First Street, and Best Buds Forever at 191 Hurontario Street, suite 1.

Two cannabis stores are open and operating in Collingwood including Sessions Cannabis at 312 Hurontario Street, and SpiritLeaf at 10 Balsam Street Unit 3.
