Collingwood now has a licensed marijuana retailer.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), which oversees and regulates retail cannabis, has announced the winners from yesterday's licence lottery, where 42 licences were up for grabs.

Five licences were granted in Simcoe County, including to Louis Laskovski for 312 Hurontario St., in Collingwood.

Seven licences were handed out in East Region, which stretches from Georgian Bay over to Ottawa.

One of those licences has been awarded for Barrie to Sofia Kuliev at 65 Collier St. Two others have been added to a wait list, including a numbered company (5019265) at 555 Essa Rd. Unit A12, and Michael Hassey at 231/241 Essa Rd.

Three licences were also granted in Innisfil, to Ronen Ackerman at 2008 Commerce Park Dr., German Olga at 1988 Commerce Park Dr., and Ilim Uzunova at 1982 Commerce Park Dr.

Elsewhere in East Region, the other two licences went to operations in Nepean and Peterborough.

Eleven licences were given in West Region, which includes Kitchener, London, Hamilton, Windsor and Guelph. Five others were added to the wait list.

Six licences were granted in the Greater Toronto Area for Burlington, Oshawa, Aurora and Stouffville. Five others, in Burlington and Oshawa, were placed on the wait list.

The Toronto metropolitan area, specifically, gets 13 licences.

In the north, single operators were chosen in each of Sault Ste. Marie, Timmins, Kenora, Thunder Bay and North Bay.
