I know people like to call Blue Mountain a hill, but today it felt like a mountain.
The Everest Challenge took place today (Oct. 13) starting at 8:30 this morning and I was part of the CollingwoodToday.ca team of eight climbers. The premise is this: teams of 2, 4, 8 or 10 people had to climb the mountain 40 times collectively. For us, it was five climbs before 1 p.m.
The event was a fundraiser for the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, with funds going to the hospital's patient room renovations.
Hikers were encouraged to climb the mountain as a team and we were all offered a gondola or shuttle ride down the hill - just enough time to get cold again before climbing back up to the top.
