Ontario reports 574 new COVID cases Friday

Today's update also includes 850 recoveries, 32 new hospitalizations, and four deaths

Public Health Ontario has reported 574 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (June 11).

Daily case counts in the province have remained under 1,000 new cases since May 31 and have been below 600 cases every day since Monday (June 7).

Today's update also includes 850 new recoveries and four deaths. 

The deaths reported today include one person between 40 and 59 years old, and three people between 60 and 79 years old. 

Since yesterday's update, there have been 32 new hospitalizations, and 13 more COVID patients admitted to intensive care units.

The June 11 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 6,184 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 6,464 yesterday.
  • 489 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, down from 516 yesterday.
  • There are 440 patients in intensive care units because of COVID-19 (down from 450 yesterday) and 292 COVID patients on ventilators (up from 291 reported yesterday).
  • The province reported 28,949 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a two per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 10,953 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 15.5 million tests to date.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 109 are from Toronto, 84 cases are from Peel, and 10 are from Simcoe-Muskoka. 
  • Today's cases include 143 individuals aged 19 and under, 232 people between 20 and 39 years old, 128 people between 40 and 59 years old, 59 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 13 people aged 80 and over.

Vaccines

  • There were 199,951 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday, up from 182,350 doses administered on June 9.
  • 10,827,420 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total,1,399,776 people have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 538,651 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 523,532 recoveries and 8,935 deaths.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,623.8 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 32 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 29.4 per cent from the prior seven-day period. 

Simcoe-Muskoka

Yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported eight new cases in the region. 

Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,107 cases of COVID-19 with 11,216 of those cases recovered and 246 cases ending in death.

There are 222 active cases in the region, and 25 people from Simcoe-Muskoka are currently hospitalized with COVID-19.

The weekly incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 23.2 cases per 100,000, which is a decrease of 26.8 per cent over last week (May 26 to June 1).
