The Oakview Woods Outdoor Skating Rink will open for the season starting at 5 p.m. today. Residents and visitors can use the rink, located at 1724 Mosley Street, beside the RecPlex, free of charge during regular hours of operation.
Pleasure skating runs Tuesdays and Fridays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 9 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. Shinny is permitted Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. to noon.
A heated change room and washrooms, along with night lighting and music during supervised hours, make the facility a special winter attraction. Shinny players are advised to wear CSA approved helmets. The facility will be available for private rentals on weekdays and Saturdays after 9 p.m., and on Sundays after 6 p.m., as well as weekdays before 5 p.m.
