There are 32 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario today, though none are from the Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit’s coverage area.

Since Thursday, March 12, there have been three cases in Simcoe-Muskoka, one in Barrie, one in Bradford, and another was hospitalized at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, but is from Alberta. The latter two cases were reported yesterday.

So far, the cases are reported to be travel-related, according to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

The total number of cases for Ontario has now reached 177 with five reported recoveries. Of today’s new cases, approximately one-third were reported from the Toronto Health Unit, and five came from York Region.

The province reports confirmed cases at 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. every day.

There was also a case confirmed in a member of the Beaver Valley Ski Club this weekend, but that case was not reported by the Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit nor the Grey Bruce Health Unit.

The local health unit said they have a responsibility for those who “live” in their district, and those who live outside would be reported by the health unit covering their residence.

Toronto Public Health said they will not publicly share the movements of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, and will instead reach out to direct contacts of the individual.
