A new medical marijuana producer is in the final approval stages for a new facility in Collingwood.

Medibudz Canada Ltd. has an application before council for a site plan agreement, which will go first to the Development and Operations Services Standing Committee on Monday night.

The proposal is for a 50,000 square-foot building on the east side of Sandford Fleming Drive, an area currently zoned as industrial.

The zoning already permits manufacturing, processing, assembly, and fabrication, which includes the production of medical marijuana. There will be a one-story building for growing, processing, and packaging medical marijuana products.

According to the proposal, the building will be covered in vertical metal siding, architectural masonry and surrounded by a chain-link fence. The property is close to five acres.

According to the staff report going to the standing committee on Monday, staff support the application and state it conforms to the town’s official plan and zoning bylaws.
