Through the mediums of maiolica pottery, tile murals and encaustic photography, I invite you to take a colourful ride and see what was made for you and me. The great joy of being a passenger, not a driver nor a pilot or a captain, free to let thoughts and imagination wander to blend into a magical surreal landscape.

The world looks different as a passenger, the mind casts a magic, surreal spell over everything. Remembered stories, told stories, imagined things all blend into the scenery of the passenger. For instance, when I am driven past our beautiful federal building downtown, I remember it was constructed after a building in Havana. I imagine how our building would look in Havana, how it could look here like it is in Havana, maybe it would have a palm tree beside it.

This exhibit was inspired by Iggy Pop's "The Passenger."

I am a ceramic artist and have been working mainly in maiolica for about twenty years. In recent years I have included some encaustic work in my exhibits. Vibrant colours, gold and fire are what brings my work together.

The exhibit is showing on the main floor of the Tremont at 80 Simcoe Street until Oct. 30. The studio is open Tuesday to Thursday evenings and Friday and Saturday noon until 9 p.m.  Also open by chance or appointment.
