Name the road you love to hate: CAA begins Worst Roads campaign

No Collingwood roads made the 2018 list, but Simcoe County streets are named and shamed

An annual tradition of naming and shaming the worst roads in Ontario begins today.

The 2019 edition of the CAA's Worst Roads campaign has kicked off, collecting nominations for anything from potholes and deteriorating pavement, to poor or non-existent cycling or walking infrastructure and poor road signs.

The number one worst ranked road in Ontario in 2018 was Hamilton's Burlington St. E.

No Collingwood roads broke through the top ten, but Barrie's Duckworth St. was ranked third and Innisfil's Lockhard Rd. ranked 10th.

Breaking it down regionally, Central Ontario (which includes Bruce County, Dufferin County, Grey County, Muskoka District Municipality and Simcoe County) looked like this:

  1. Barrie's Duckworth St.
  2. Innisfil's Lockhard Rd.
  3. Barrie's Bayfield St.
  4. Innisfil's 7th Line
  5. Barrie's Essa Rd.

More than 3,500 roads were nominated last year from across Ontario; the highest number since CAA began its Worst Roads campaign, more than 15 years ago.

Nominations for worst road are being accepted until April 26 on the CAA's website.
