The plan for 11 more townhouses stretching into Collingwood’s former shipyards has been approved by council.

The development, which will stretch along the waterfront north of Side Launch Way at the intersection of Emerson Mews filling in the gap between the existing townhouses and the street.

The proposal - dubbed Side Launch Two – consists of 11 townhouses all three storeys tall with rooftop terraces. The entire building footprint is 1,345 square metres.

The facade of the buildings will be similar to the dwellings adjacent to the property and to the existing Side Launch One building.

With site plan approval and building permits, work can begin on the development.

Building permits won’t be authorized until fees are paid and the site plan agreement is signed. The town also requires a soil engineer report before installation of footings, and that fire hydrants be operational, tested, and approved before a building permit is issued.

The proposal received unanimous support from council at the June 24 meeting.
