Local ski racers qualify for Canada Winter Games

The skiers will be racing in PEI and New Brunswick next week

Alpine Ontario Alpin (AOA) announced Team Ontario who will compete in the 2023 Canada Winter Games. AOA would like to thank all of the clubs, coaches, officials and volunteers for contributing to the U16 Mid-Winter Series that concluded Feb. 11. The series, including two slalom, two giant slalom, and one SG race, was the Ontario-wide qualifier for the Canada Winter Games.

“The Canada Winter Games is a unique experience unlike other Canadian U16 Championships, and is intended to give athletes the experience of a major games like the World Junior Championships, World Championships, or Olympic Winter Games. You will be among the best athletes from many sports from across Canada. We wish you the best of luck in competition, and encourage you to embrace and enjoy the overall experience.” said Kip Harrington, vice-president of high performance for Alpine Ontario Alpin.

The alpine skiing portion of the Canada Winter Games takes place in the second week of the games from February 27 to March 5. The alpine host venues are Crabbe Mountain, NB and Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park at Brookvale, PEI.
