The man accused of two murders in Collingwood appeared in court again today.

Cameron Gardiner, 57, had to choose a lawyer today, in a rather unusual turn of events that had two lawyers in the courtroom to represent Gardiner.

He chose Elliott Willschick, who was represented by Brad Dickson, to defend him in the coming trial where he will face two second-degree murder charges.

Gardiner was charged after a shooting at a residence on Matthew Way left two men, Dean Copkov and Donovan Bass, dead.

Dickson asked for another court date in two weeks via video appearance in Barrie.

The Collingwood judge said that was not possible.

“It’s a local matter, it stays here,” said the judge.

Gardiner is set to appear in court again on March 5, in person and in Collingwood.

He has not had a bail hearing and remains in police custody.
