The Institute of South Georgian Bay is inviting area residents to join a virtual conversation about sustainable affordable housing, part of the Sustainable Economies series.

On June 22 at 4:30 p.m. the Institute will welcome special guests Stuart Reid, executive director for Community Foundation Grey Bruce and Marg Scheben-Edey, chair of the regional affordable housing task force for South Georgian Bay. Each will share data and their perspectives on two recently published reports.

The Institute defines affordable housing as shelter that costs no more than 30 per cent of pre-tax household income (rent or mortgage payments, utilities, and taxes).

"This community conversation for the Grey/Simcoe region is a chance to hear what the numbers tell us about our local reality and finding home in our communities in the midst of a housing crisis," states a news release from the Institute. "The goal of this event is to bring residents and businesses, government, non-profit, and philanthropic leaders together to discuss how each of us can help."
