For one artist, music has become the language of her vocabulary, and now she’s exploring the poetry side of that vocabulary.

Andrea Ramolo will be the next music artist featured at the Crow Session Dinner Show with her latest album, Homage, a tribute to the legacy of the musical poet Leonard Cohen.

Crow Sessions are intimate nights at Crow. Bar and Variety in Collingwood including dinner and music and hosted by Jeff Woods. Ramolo will play on Nov. 6. Find out more about the Crow Session here

Ramolo’s album is a 10-song collection of Cohen songs she has interpreted in her own way. Homage was produced by Michael Timmins of Cowboy Junkies, and is Ramolo’s second collaboration with Timmins.

The Nov. 6 Crow Session will take place even before the album launch for Homage, which takes place on Nov. 7 at Toronto’s Burdock Music Hall.

“I spent two months listening in depth to every single album of Leonard’s from top to bottom," Ramolo said. "I wasn’t as leery about ruling out the famous songs as I was about making sure I didn’t repeat the same ‘colours.’ I included my personal favourites, like ‘Famous Blue Raincoat’ and ‘Suzanne,’ but I wanted to make sure the others I chose were a mix of newer and older songs to best represent his massive catalogue.”

Homage, which features Ramolo on baritone guitar and vocals, Tom Juhas on lead guitar, Derek Giberson on keyboards, David Goncalves Gouveia on drums, and special guest Sahra Featherstone on harp. Homage is a fully independent release.
