The Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS) is honoured to be the recipient of a grant that will help support the work of the GTHS Humane Education program.

The $4,800 grant provided from the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach contributes towards a lasting impact on youth in the community.

“Thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach, we continue to impact youth in our community by teaching them about compassion and empathy for animals. This summer, the Humane Education Program launched our brand-new Pet Sitters Course and it was a huge success. Registrants ranging from 8 - 14 years of age learned about appropriate dog and cat care, how to handle emergency situations, some basic pet first aid tips and received a certificate of completion," states Karen Marsh, Humane Education Coordinator for the GTHS.

"The support of our program continues to enable the GTHS to impact youth in our community, helping them to grow and develop into more empathetic and compassionate individuals who understand that all living things deserve to be treated with love and respect. Ultimately, the generosity of the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach helps us to attain our overall goal which is to see our youth grow and populate this community with citizens who cultivate empathy towards people and animals, thereby reducing violence in our schools, homes and neighbourhoods.”

The GTHS is thankful for the continued support from individuals, businesses and clubs like the Rotary Club of Wasaga Beach. Relying solely on donations, this grant will make a lasting impact to their efforts in animal welfare.
