On Thursday, Dec. 1, Hospice Georgian Triangle hosted two events beginning the holiday season. Lights of Love, held at the Royal Canadian Legion was a non-denominational memorial event celebrating the lives lost this year. After, people gathered at Campbell House for the annual lighting of the house with holiday lights.

More than 100 people participated in the memorial event which honoured loved ones with music, poems, and the reading of the names, which was a powerful moment for the guests.

“We are very fortunate to be able to continue to host our Lights of Love event every year for our community. We know how much it means to the families and friends who are continuing to grieve and honour their loved one’s memory,” said Jenn Kerr, one of the event organizers and a community support counsellor.

At lighting of Campbell House, people gathered outside with hot chocolate and candles to witness the countdown and holiday splendour. Each light represents a gift made to Hospice  Georgian Triangle during the holiday season and symbolizes the need for community support.

Hospice palliative care and community programs offered by Hospice Georgian Triangle come at no cost to the user and focus on the physical and emotional needs of both the patient and family, enhancing quality of life.
