TORONTO — The union representing Ontario's public high school teachers says it will hold another one-day strike on Dec. 11.

The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) says Wednesday's job action will impact only schools in Toronto and several regions.

According to information by the OSSTF, both the Simcoe County District School Board and the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board will be impacted.

The job action also includes full withdrawal of services from French-language schools belonging to the Conseil scolaire de district catholique MonAvenir, such as École élémentaire catholique Frère-André, École élémentaire catholique Notre-Dame-de-la-Huronie, École secondaire catholique Nouvelle-Alliance, École élémentaire catholique Sainte-Croix, École élémentaire catholique Saint-Louis, École élémentaire catholique Samuel-de-Champlain, École élémentaire catholique Marguerite-Bourgeois (CFB Borden).

OSSTF members employed by the Conseil scolaire Viamonde at the following worksites will also be engaged in the full withdrawal of services, including École secondaire Le Caron, École secondaire Roméo-Dallaire, and École élémentaire La Source.

Earlier this week, the union held a one-day strike that closed all high schools — and some elementary schools — across the province.

High school teachers are pushing back against government plans to increase class sizes and introduce mandatory e-learning courses.

But the Progressive Conservative government says the key issue at the bargaining table is compensation

The province has offered a one-per-cent annual wage increase, but the union is seeking around two per cent.
