Hashtag, trashtag, these clean-up crews filled the trash bags

Today was the sixth-annual community clean-up day in Collingwood and these volunteers spent their afternoon helping out.

Volunteers were ducking under tree branches and inching down stream banks in search of rubbish.

Today was the sixth-annual Community Clean-up Day. Town staff were on site at Harbourview Park with gloves and trash bags for volunteers who arrived to pick up trash along Collingwood's trails, roads, parks, and public spaces.

Those wishing to volunteer could join the effort at Harbourview Park or assemble their own gaggle of garbage gatherers and register their clean-up site. The town provided supplies and garbage collection services.

This year, participants were encouraged to share before and after photos of their clean-up sites and post them to social media with the hashtag #TrashTag, part of a recent social media trend encouraging individuals to help clean up a public space.
