Halloween snowfall predicted, could impact overnight driving conditions

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
  • Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
  • Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago

First snowfall of the season expected overnight into Friday.

Periods of rain will continue today. Additional rainfall amounts of 15 to 30 mm are expected today for total amounts of 20 to 40 mm by this evening.

Rain may change over to snow overnight before tapering off Friday. Snowfall amounts of 2 to 4 cm are possible by later Friday morning, especially over higher ground inland from Georgian Bay.

There is uncertainty in the track of the low, which will affect how quickly the rain will change over to snow and subsequent snowfall amounts. This event will continue to be monitored.

Poor winter driving conditions are possible overnight and Friday morning.
