Collingwood town council meets Monday, June 25 at 5 p.m.

Here’s a few items on the agenda for discussion:

Rezoning application for Parkbridge head office

There will be a public meeting to receive comments on an application from Parkbridge to re-zone property on Huron Street from medium density residential to downtown core exception designation. By rezoning the property, Parkbridge would be able to build business offices on the site. The change would also limit the building height to 17 metres.

Environmental Services Midyear Operations Update

Staff will present a midyear summary of operations for Collingwood’s water treatment and distribution system. Council is the operating authority for the system and that makes it their responsibility to make sure the standards set out by the Safe Water Drinking Act are being met. The report includes information on statutory standard of care, distribution water quality, drinking water quality management system update, staff training, and water treatment plant maintenance. The report includes data on both the drinking water and wastewater systems in the town of Collingwood.

Collingwood Terminals Engineering Condition Assessment

Will Teron an engineer with Tacoma Engineers is scheduled to make a presentation to council on the state of the Collingwood grain terminals building and his assessment of their condition.

Notice of Motion

Councillor Kathy Jeffrey has put forward a motion, which will not be voted on by council until August 27, asking staff to consult with local indigenous people to work on a policy to recognize traditional lands at the beginning of council meetings and town events. A territorial acknowledgement typically involves making a statement recognizing the traditional territory of the First Nations who called the land home before settlers arrived and sometimes still call them home.

In Camera

Council is slated to go into a private meeting to discuss matters related to the Collingwood Regional Airport and 400 Maple Street (former Victoria School Annex).
