It was an all-out dance party at Central Park today as hundreds of elementary and high school students gathered on the grass to dance their hearts out.

It was an all-out dance party at Central Park today as hundreds of elementary and high school students gathered on the grass to dance their hearts out.

Officially, it was Sharing Dance day across the nation, and, for the second year, Collingwood joined in. Erin McAndrew is a local dance teacher and the woman responsible for bringing the Sharing Dance program to Collingwood. The program was created and by Canada's National Ballet School and is funded by the federal government and other business sponsors. It includes a specially choreographed dance taught to all participants and performed on the same day nation-wide.

McAndrew has peen spending the last eight weeks in local classrooms teaching dance techniques and the choreography for this year's Sharing Dance routine. This year's theme was the earth and human's relationship to it.

Sharing Dance day included special performances by local dancers from Fleetwood Dance Studio, The DanceRoom, Jean Vanier's dance class and an aboriginal dancer from Bear Creek Secondary School.

Enjoy these photos from the day.
