Flamenco guitarist David Sinclair will make his return to the Collingwood stage at the Simcoe Street Theatre on July 9.

The Toronto-born guitarist has dedicated himself to flamenco music for over 20 years.

Flamenco music is an art form based on the various folkloric music traditions of southern Spain.

Sinclair has made Granada, Spain, his home since 2005 and performs throughout the province of Granada and Andalucia, primarily in flamenco peñas (societies), festivals. His last recording, El Arte de la Guitarra Flamenca, features 10 of Sinclair’s own compositions in flamenco song forms.

As an experienced teacher Sinclair has taught for many years in Waterloo at a highly respected music academy and also teaches flamenco to guitar students from all over the world in Granada.

Collingwood residents have the opportunity to hear this rhythmically fascinating art form once again on Saturday, July 9 at 8 p.m. at the Simcoe Street Theatre.

“It’s an honour to be back at Simcoe Street Theatre after four long years. The pandemic interrupted my return two years ago, so it’s with great enthusiasm that I return to play at this wonderful venue,” said Sinclair. “It definitely feels like coming home. I hope that everyone who has an interest in the music and culture of Spain can attend this concert.”

Tickets at available at the BMFA Aarts Hub and www.ticketscene.ca/events/40852.
