Five new COVID cases reported in The Blue Mountains today

Grey Bruce Health Unit has confirmed 27 new cases in the region in the last two days

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) confirmed 16 new cases of COVID-19 today and 11 yesterday. Included in the 27 new cases are three Grey Highlands residents and five Blue Mountains residents. 

Yesterday evening, the Town of The Blue Mountains announced a COVID outbreak among town staff with at least three cases confirmed in employees from one of the staff departments.

The other 19 new cases reported in the region over the last two days include four people from Huron Kinloss, three from West Grey, one from Arran Elderslie, one from Georgian Bluffs, two from Hanover, one from Neyaashiinigmiing, one from Chatsworth, one from Meaford, one from Saugeen Shores, one from South Bruce Peninsula, and three from Southgate. 

The health unit has reported a total of 518 cases in the region to date, and notes there are 46 active cases in both counties combined. Two people from the region are hospitalized.

Active cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (4), Southgate (5), Grey Highlands (7), Meaford (3), West Grey (4), The Blue Mountains (8), Hanover (2),  Chatsworth (1) and Georgian Bluffs (1). 

The health unit is currently tracking 129 high-risk contacts associated with active cases.

Of GBHU’s 518 cumulative cases, 442 cases have recovered and 30 cases were referred to other health units.

Lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in Grey County include: Owen Sound (85); Southgate (76); Grey Highlands (60); West Grey (32); Blue Mountains (32); Meaford (23); Hanover (21); Georgian Bluffs (3); Chatsworth (3).
