Fire department adds shiny new multi-function truck to the fleet

Collingwood Fire Department recently accepted delivery of its newest truck, a custom build from New Brunswick

Collingwood Fire Department received a long-awaited delivery.

A new fire truck custom-built over the last year in New Brunswick has arrived at the Collingwood station.

Deputy Chief Dan Thurman said this is the first brand new truck for the fleet since 2017.

The truck was built by Metalfab Fire Trucks as a multi-functional response truck for Collingwood Fire. It includes the regular water pump and fire suppression gear, plus it will carry the department's auto-extrication equipment and can be used during ice water rescue response.

It can carry five firefighters.

Thurman said the truck stayed within the $650,000 budget allocated for the purchase.

The truck took about a year to build and Collingwood Fire Department was able to select a custom cab and paint job.
