Collingwood curlers got together for their favourite sport to support local provincial athletes heading to the Ontario games at the end of January.

Collingwood is sending a team of four athletes and two coaches to curl at the Provincial Special Olympic Games in Sault Ste. Marie at the end of January.

Some of the team members, who train at the Curling Club of Collingwood, have up to ten years experience and have qualified to go to the Games based on their performance in previous events. The Provincial Games follow a four-year cycle leading to the National and Olympics levels. Nineteen Special Olympics athletes curl regularly in Collingwood, with the support of eight coaches.

At a recent jitney bonspiel at the Curling Club of Collingwood, local curlers raised $440 to support the team going to the Games in Sault Ste. Marie.
